Marc Solanes Calderón

Barcelona, ​​1993. Graduated in Journalism from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), Master in Literary Journalism (UAB) and Master in International Affairs and Diplomacy (UNITAR). Writing and telling the stories that happen around me has been my passion since I was little. I have gone through the writing of El Periòdic d’Andorra and has collaborated with EFE Catalunya, ElMon.cat and Expansión. I have been an associate professor of the Master in Communication Management at ESIC Bussiness School and ISDE.

I currently work as a collaborator in the Magazine of La Vanguardia, Tekneo, Natural and Vivo channels of La Vanguardia, Historia y Vida of La Vanguardia, Cataluña Económica, Negocios en El País and coordinator of the environment magazine Sostenible.cat. I am a communication consultant for the Josep Salvat PR agency in Environment and Sustainability projects.

I have directed the documentary “Els Orrit”, nominated in the Latitude section of DocsBarcelona 2023.

Biografía

Read, write and resist

I like books, newspapers and anything written on paper from a very young age. Gay Talese, Truman Capote and Oriana Fallacci are some of the references with whom I have always dreamed of being able to travel in time and travel hand in hand.

I have always felt attracted to great journalistic investigations and to all those pen artists who have uncovered stories of international public interest. One carnival, I even dressed up as Kapuściński.

Right now I am in the process of publishing my first book, a historical investigation about María Ferrer Ferrer, my great-grandmother and one of the most mysterious and pioneering women of the Spanish Civil War. It cannot reveal anything else until next February 2024, when it will finally see the light of day thanks to Pol·len Edicions.

My life changed completely when I found out that Truman Capote wrote “In Cold Blood” in Palamós, a small town on the Catalan Costa Brava. My favorite author? J.D. Salinger. Not a week goes by without trying to find out if someone has leaked any of his new material.
